“Common Thread”
This necklace was made after a workshop on form research through materiality that I co-led with an experienced textile weaver. My role wasn’t just teaching, but making—sharing the perspective of a working jeweler who has to constantly return to sources of inspiration. Watching students with no prior experience approach the loom purely by intuition was striking. Without established rules or practiced technique, the results were immediate, confident, and often surprising. Cloth, present in every culture and throughout human history, becomes a shared language of crossing, binding, and holding. This piece translates that universal act into fused, abstractly woven sterling silver, letting intuition lead and allowing the material to speak before technique.
One of a kind “Common Thread” pendant of formed forged, woven and hammered textural sterling silver and a bit of brass. The pendant is suspended on a hammer forged 10 gauge sterling silver jointed neck ring. The neckpiece closes in back with a forged hook and handmade paperclip link chain. The pendant measures approximately 4×2.5”, weighs 56 grams and the neck piece is adjustable from 15-20”. Signed, hallmarked and dated 2025. Flat rate insured and tracked USPS Ground Advantage shipping or USPS Priority shipping within the US. International shipping prices vary.
