“Floor Skull”

This brooch is made entirely from scrap silver I picked up off the studio floor during a big clean—bits and fragments from recent pieces that had fallen away without me really noticing. As I looked at the little pile, I realized each scrap had a story—they were once part of something I’d made, something I care about. So I gathered them up and gave them a new form: a skull. It felt like the right shape to hold all that leftover energy. Inspired by a skull book gifted to me by my friend and fellow jeweler April Bower (which has been lingering in my thoughts ever since), this piece became a kind of vessel. Floor Skull holds the soul of the recent pieces it came from—a ghost formed from what was almost lost, now given a second life.
