This piece centers around the broken head of an antique bisque doll, carrying forward the evidence of its existence. I can’t help but wonder who played with this when it was new in the 1920’s, who they were, what they became..I think a lot about play—how it isn’t just a distraction of childhood, but a kind of early practice for being human. Through toys and imagination we test out care, conflict, creativity, and connection; we learn the shape of the world before we can name it. In giving this fragment a new life as jewelry, I’m honoring the way play stays with us, quietly shaping who we become.”

One of a kind “Play” found object brooch created from textured, smooth, forged, fused, fabricated and pierced sterling silver. The piece holds at its center a bezel set German ARI c. 1920’s bisque doll fragment and has a row of 5 tube set cushion cut 4mm peridot. The doll head is filled with epoxy to strengthen and stabilize it and is quite secure. The piece is finished with a patina to highlight the detail and is worn as a brooch using the handmade sterling silver and 18 gauge spring steel mechanism and as a pendant utilizing the integrated hidden bale. This piece measures approximately 3×2” and is signed, hallmarked and dated 2025. Flat rate insured and tracked USPS Ground
