“Sparky”
We live in a doggy neighborhood—every morning, it’s a parade. The other day we were out walking our two: Ryker, a dignified 16 year old puggle, creaky but determined, and Owen, a beagle with constant sniffing nose to the ground.
On the other side of the street a woman was walking two tiny dogs, maybe 8 pounds soaking wet, both yapping, wound up and clearly thinking they owned the road. They looked like some sort of chihuahua-terrier mixes, all nerves and definite Napoleon complexes. Before we even had time to register what was happening, one of them slipped the leash.
He didn’t hesitate.
This little maniac—let’s call him “Sparky”—came flying across the street, ears back, teeth flying and deranged. We instinctively scooped up our dogs and “Sparky” leapt and snapped at the air, absolutely unbothered by the fact that he was barely the size of a loaf of bread.
It was a little crazy . But funny.
The woman came running, apologizing while trying to wrangle the wild brat back onto its leash and eventually, she got him under control, and we all went on our way… Her, mortified and shaken…Us, kind of amused.
