“The Space Between Black and Grey”
When I was building this piece, I kept thinking about how we tend to name extremes—black, white, even grey—but rarely the subtle territory that exists in between. The rods and angles felt like a way of holding that in-between place together, suspending it so it wouldn’t collapse into either side. Sterling always carries that shifting quality too—sometimes shadowed, sometimes bright, never fixed. For me, this piece lives in that uncertain space, the one that resists clarity but feels the most alive.
This one of a kind brooch is created from multi textured fabricated sterling silver, brass and bronze. The central element supports a caged connection of five bronze wires that connects it to the second sterling silver element. The piece terminates with a raised bezel set Fordite cabochon and is finished with a patina and a scratch finish to highlight the detail. “The Space Between Black and Grey” is worn as a brooch using the handmade sterling silver and 18 gauge spring steel mechanism. The piece measures approximately 2.25×2.25” and is signed, hallmarked and dated 2025. Flat rate insured and tracked USPS Ground Advantage shipping or USPS Priority shipping within the US. International shipping prices vary.
