“This may or may not be a self portrait”

I’m not one to look back much—but a recent message about a possible high school reunion (the first) stirred something. One of the 17 classmates (yes, you read that right) I graduated with in 1984 reached out, and it got me thinking about that weird, awkward, insecure, slightly manic 18-year-old kid from a tiny rural town, trying to make sense of it all and find his place in the world.

Over forty years later, he’s still in here somewhere—scarred over, but never too far from the surface…

This abstract face piece is created from fabricated and textured sterling silver and brass and has a bezel and post set turquoise eye. The piece is finished with a patina and is worn as a brooch using the handmade sterling silver and 18 gauge spring steel mechanism and as a pendant using the integrated hidden bale.
